Astrology Study Roadmap (Beginner → Advanced)

Phase 1: Foundations (The Language of Astrology)

🔹 Goal: Learn the vocabulary of astrology.

The Zodiac Signs (12 signs)

  • Elements (Fire, Earth, Air, Water)
  • Modalities (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable)
  • Archetypes & mythology of each sign

The Planets

  • Inner planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) → personal traits
  • Outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) → generational influence
  • Luminaries (Sun & Moon) as central identity/emotion

The Houses (12 areas of life)

  • What each house represents (e.g., 7th house = relationships)
  • Angular, Succedent, Cadent houses

Aspects (Planetary Relationships)

  • Conjunction, Sextile, Square, Trine, Opposition
  • How planets "talk" to each other

Phase 2: Putting It Together (Chart Basics)

🔹 Goal: Read your own birth chart.

  • Learn the circle of the birth chart (wheel).
  • Rising Sign (Ascendant) → your lens on the world.
  • Understand how planets in signs & houses combine.
  • Practice with your own chart, then family/friends’ charts.

Phase 3: Intermediate Techniques

🔹 Goal: Refine interpretation skills.

  • Planetary Dignities → rulership, detriment, exaltation, fall.
  • Lunar Nodes (North Node = growth, South Node = past comfort).
  • Chiron (the “wounded healer”).
  • Retrogrades → inner reflection vs. outer expression.
  • Stelliums, interceptions, chart patterns (e.g., T-square, Grand Trine).

Phase 4: Predictive Astrology

🔹 Goal: Look beyond the birth chart.

  • Transits → current planetary movements affecting your chart.
  • Progressions → symbolic unfolding of your chart through life.
  • Solar Returns → yearly chart on your birthday.
  • Lunar Phases → emotional cycles and manifestation.

Phase 5: Advanced & Esoteric Astrology

🔹 Goal: Master nuance & deeper traditions.

  • Electional Astrology (choosing best times for events).
  • Horary Astrology (answering specific questions with a chart).
  • Mundane Astrology (world events, politics).
  • Asteroids & Fixed Stars (e.g., Lilith, Pallas, Sirius).
  • Mythology & spiritual dimensions of astrology.

Phase 6: Practice & Integration

🔹 Goal: Become fluent in chart reading.

  • Do case studies of famous people’s charts.
  • Compare natal → transit → progression for events in your own life.
  • Journal your observations during Moon cycles.
  • Offer free readings to friends for practice.

👉 Suggested Learning Flow:

  • Month 1–2: Master signs, planets, houses, aspects.
  • Month 3–4: Practice with charts (your own + others).
  • Month 5–6: Dive into intermediate topics (nodes, Chiron, dignities).
  • Month 7–9: Explore predictive methods (transits, progressions).
  • Month 10+: Specialize (horary, electional, etc.) based on your interest.
✨ My tip: Astrology is best learned by living it — journaling daily transits and comparing them to your mood/events will make the theory stick.
